SUMMARY:UNESCO Technical Meeting to reflect on the Recovery of the World Heritage site of Palmyra
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Jansen participates in the UNESCO Technical Meeting to reflect on the Recovery of the World Heritage site of Palmyra. Representatives from the Directorate General for Antiquities and Museums in Syria\, Syrian and international experts\, UNESCO’s institutional partners as well as a small group of multidisciplinary international experts discuss on the most appropriate approach for the recovery of the site of Palmyra\, taking stock of the current situation and on-going initiatives at the site. \nThe meeting takes into consideration the principles of the World Heritage Convention\, while addressing community needs and aspirations. It also considers the application of international charters and recommendations\, including the Warsaw Recommendation on Recovery and Reconstruction of Cultural Heritage (May\, 2018)\, with a focus on the preservation of the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of the Site of Palmyra.  \nThe meeting is not open to the public.
