The Research Centre Indian Ocean (RIO) at GUtech will be holding a start-up workshop together with Halle University, Germany, (ZIRS), and in cooperation with CIVIS, Sindh University, Pakistan, with ICOMOS and with Al Roya, Muscat, Oman from 4 to 6 March 2019 at the premises of GUtech, Halban, Muscat based on invited participation only. Prof. Jansen (RIO) participates in an advisory meeting on setting up an archaeological park within the buffer zone of the Mausoleum of Khwaja Ahmed Jasavi, in Turkestan, southern Kazakhstan. Publication of the 2nd Volume of the Series “Historic Settlements of Oman”
The second volume of the series “Historic Settlements of Oman” was published in June 2019. This volume hosts sites from the Batinah Gorvernorate, visited and documented by students from the German University of Technology in Oman, GUtech. This is part of the ongoing project “Historic Settlements of Oman” that aims to create an electronic database and record systematically the settlemental history of Oman.
