Presentation by Prof. M. Jansen on Mohenjo Daro
On December 20th, 2017, Prof. M. Jansen gave a presentation on Mohenjo Daro, the largest Bronze Age City of the World. The presentation was held at the German University of Technology in Oman, GUtech. During the presentation, the audience had the opportunity to see the film "Mohenjo Daro – Das Geheimnis der Induskultur" (in English) that was presented in the German TV Channel ARTE. RIO Task Force Inaugurating Meeting
The first meeting of RIO Task Force was held on May, 8th 2018. Professors from different Departments of GUtech, members of RIO as well representatives from the German Embassy in Oman attended the meeting and discussed fundamental issues regarding the form and the function of the Research Centre Indian Ocean. It is RIO's vision and aim to act as a research platform that will bring together researchers and promote scientific work carried out within the region of the Indian Ocean.

Public Presentation by Prof. Jansen “Die Seidenstrassen zu Wasser und zu Land”
On December 15th, 2019 Prof. Dr. Michael Jansen gave a public lecture in Viersen on the Silk Roads, a vast trade network that connected the East and West via land and sea routes. The specific topic is of greater importance and will be thoroughly discussed in an international conference that will be organised by RIO and will be held in Muscat, Oman in September 2021.
