Scholars, curators and students from across the globe participated in the conference, among them, many representatives from South Asia. Delegates were formally welcomed on Monday morning by the host of the event, Professor Adam Hardy, current president of the EASAA. The welcome address was followed by a keynote speech from Dr Catherine Jarrige, one of the founding members of the EASAA. World Archaeological Congress (WAC-8)
The 8th World Archaeological Congress (WAC-8) was held between 28 August and 2 September 2016 in Kyoto, with more than 1,600 colleagues coming from 83 countries. The functions of a World Archaeological Congress international conference include various decision-makings as a world archaeological organisation as well as the facilitation of academic communications for the furtherance of the causes, principles and objectives of WAC.

International Technical Meeting on the Future of the Bamiyan World Heritage Property
The objectives of the meeting are dealing with the future development of the Bamiyan valley in relation to the UNESCO World Heritage property. The meeting is organized in 6 sessions. Prof. Jansen (RIO) participates in an advisory meeting on setting up an archaeological park within the buffer zone of the Mausoleum of Khwaja Ahmed Jasavi, in Turkestan, southern Kazakhstan.
